Parent Partnership

The first five years of your child’s life is a special and amazing journey - for you, for your family and for your child. So many milestones are achieved, so many new skills gained and little personalities developing in such a short period of time!

Not only are your precious babies and toddlers developing into little people, but also you and your family unit is growing, learning and changing too. It’s an incredibly important stage where everyone needs support, reassurance and feedback to help make this journey as special and memorable as possible.

You simply want to give your child a great start in life.

Sunshine and Sunbeams Day Nurseries are two outstanding, busy children’s day nurseries in Leytonstone. We have worked extremely hard to build and maintain positive, proactive parent partnerships with our families.

We understand what a big decision you are about to make - to entrust the care of your baby or child to us, and how important it is that you are fully involved in these growing years.

We firmly believe our relationship with our families and parents starts from our first conversation when you initially contact us. We strive to get to know you and begin to build the foundations of a solid, trusting relationship which we value as much as the relationship we build with your child.

This ensures we can offer the best possible support throughout your families time with us.

We will take time to talk to you and find out all we need to know about your baby or child, what is important to them, what they can already do and what they need help with, all about their likes and dislikes, whether they have brothers or sisters, pets and other important people or things in their lives.

Working Closely With Our Parents

Once your baby or child starts at Sunshine or Sunbeams Day Nursery, we will work closely with you; ensuring that you receive lots of feedback about your child’s ongoing development and what they have enjoyed learning about at nursery. We also want to know what they enjoy doing and getting up to at home.

We will keep you informed in a variety of ways: on a daily basis both verbally and through our daily feedback forms, you are welcome to talk to your child’s key worker when you drop off or pick up, or by contacting the nursery at any time of the day. Talk to us - no issues are too big or too small.

As well as face-to-face contact we’re also available online! We keep in touch with you through emails and through phone calls. We also use an online learning journal called Tapestry.

You and our nursery staff can upload photos and videos, share learning, progress and experiences through this online journal; providing a wonderful, ongoing and up-to-date record of your child’s nursery life and progress.

Our regular observations help us plan to ensure your child is supported to enhance their all-round development, we work hard with parents to ensure any issues are highlighted and supported early on.

Every six months from your child’s birthday, your child’s key worker will complete and share with you a progress report telling you how your child is progressing in the seven key areas of learning along with the planned next steps for their continued development.

When you first join us, our nursery team can provide you with the necessary tools to help support your child’s learning and development to enable you to use this at home.

Our newsletters are sent out at the beginning of each month sharing our news, Early Years information, as well as the planned festivals and themes we will be celebrating over the coming month. It will also have suggestions of things to make and do at home.

You Can Get Involved Too!

Although achieving developmental milestones and the Government’s Early Years FoundationStage is very important, nursery is also about having lots of fun and exploring the world in a safe and caring environment.

You can be included in the fun bits too!

We hold events throughout the year that you can join in with: annual day trips, Mothers and Fathers Day events, garden parties and coffee mornings.

Nursery is a big part of your child’s life and so we want you to share these great times with them.

These are firm fixtures in our annual calendar of events.

Supporting Your Child and Family

At times you and your child may need some additional help or support, such as

  • When a new baby is born and your toddler needs extra reassurance,
  • If a family member is ill, OR
  • If your child has specific issues that might be impacting on their development.

This is where our parent partnership comes into its own - our team will be on hand to support, guide and advise and be able to offer you all the help you and your child needs.

Our open door policy ensures that we are able to keep the lines of communication open between you and us at all times.

We strive to build strong relationships with you and for these few important years; become your supportive partner in your family’s lives.

Testimonials and feedback from our current and previous parents is a great indication that we’re got this right; you can see what they say here.
